Join us September 11th and 12th for Trail Building in Buffalo Creek

Our next workday will be Saturday and Sunday September 11th and 12th. Thanks to our hardworking volunteers, we are just a handful of workdays away from opening two new segments of trail in Buffalo Creek. The first segment is a classic cross country climb to one of the best vantage points in Buffalo Creek, sitting atop a granite outcropping with sweeping view of the mountains surrounding the area. The trail can be ridden as an out-and-back, or looped by accessing the new black diamond trail. Neither of these segments is open and we need your help to get them completed this season.

Saturday August 21st, a strong group of volunteers completed a massive rock ramp on a feature known as "Bad Finger" on the black diamond trail. In the coming workdays we will construct both singletrack trail and rock features on both the cross country climb and the black diamond descent. To makeup for the weather cancelation of our first Saturday in March, we are extending the September 11th event to a full weekend of camping, camaraderie, and trail construction on both Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th.

Please RSVP so we can plan food and drink, all the details about when and were to meet are provided in the RSVP thank you.

In the Fall 2008, a group of local riders led by Keith Clarke and Stu Miller flagged a trail corridor which climbs to the top of a rocky ridge before descending back into the valley.  Construction began last year with volunteers contributing over 1,000 hours of work, but there is still much to be done.

We have ten trail building days scheduled for this year: 4/17, 5/22 & 23, 6/19, 7/24 & 25, 8/21, 9/11 & 9/12, 9/25 and 10/16. The events on 5/22-23, 9/11-12 and 7/24-25 will be back-to-the-basics camping weekends held at the Miller Gulch Trailhead.

Please join us by RSVP'ing for one of our volunteer trail building days or find out more about the project.
