Join Our Community & Support Local Trails!

Starting in March 2023, we're investing even more in our local mountain biking community with our new in-house membership program. While we've appreciated our decade-plus partnership with IMBA, COMBA is now taking the final step to secure 100% of your membership donations for local advocacy and trail building efforts. Yes, that does mean no more IMBA socks for you - but we're certain you'd prefer to see more trails, and better trails, built right here in the Front Range. We are working to set up all-new member benefits working with our local partners because we want to support the businesses that support us! There's never been a better time to join us or renew your COMBA membership, do it today!

With recent projects at Maryland Mountain, North Elk Creek, and Buff Creek as well as upcoming work creating new trails in Idaho Springs, Lair o' the Bear, and Golden Bike Park, we're working hard to make your 2023 riding season even more stoke-worthy.

Some recent and upcoming trails projects that your membership $'s help fund:

  • Virginia Canyon Mountain Park in Idaho Springs will start construction on its first bike-only descending trail Fall 2023. Maybe even two! No seriously, it's really going to happen this year, we double-dog promise. Look for a Spring 2024 opening.

  • There’s a new bike-only directional trail at Lair O' The Bear! Called Rutabaga Ride, this trail allows riders to descend on a designated use trail designed and built for mountain biking, safely away from the busy lower section and the path along the creek. This project was a COMBA trails project submittal in 2018 and we’re stoked to see this kind of project in JCOS!

  • Warren Gulch is NOW BACK OPEN! This popular shuttle-run was closed for two years due to private property conflicts.

  • North Elk Creek & Staunton State Park have a new trail called Rusty Buckle that cuts over a peak from NEC to Borderline, OPEN NOW!

  • We're also currently leading a planning process to improve the riding experiences in the Indian Creek recreation area. This is part of our Outside 285 Regional Partnership and partially funded by our Indian Creek planning grant.

WHAT OUR MEMBERS HAVE TO SAY

D.R.

COMBA's work of late has been absolutely amazing. Floyd Hill is superb.  Maryland Mountain is even better. The trail connecting Staunton and Cub Creek is super interesting and fun. You guys just keep going with the hits!!  My props to everyone involved in the advocacy and trail-building work for COMBA.

D.S.

My hat is off to you and everyone involved. You listened to the will of the riders and delivered in a big way! I'm still buzzing from riding it yesterday!

C.N.

COMBA is the best thing to happen to all trail users in Colorado! Building trails and trying to keep trail conflicts at a minimum. You’re vitally important in helping to preserve our lifestyle!! Just re-upped for another year - just a tad more than a full-day lift ticket at Vail. Worth it!

TOP 3 REASONS TO BECOME A MEMBER

1

For a helluva lot less than a lift ticket, you can help build more great places to ride on the Front Range. We have an awesome slate of bike-focused new trails on tap that need your support!

2

Adding your voice to our ask for bike-optimized or bike-only, directional trails wherever possible.

3

Helping to educate new riders and trail users on how to get the best experience out of their Front Range trails.

Need more reasons?

Our members make our work possible! COMBA is a membership funded 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your membership dollars build and maintain trails, host events and rides, encourage youth to get outside on bikes, and represent mountain bikers at the local, state and federal level. You'll reap the benefits of your investment every time you ride.

We know it's easy to think that trails are already funded with our tax dollars, but when we dream of bike-specific, challenging and directional trails, we often exceed the scope of what our land agency partners have in their budget or plans. So we put our money where our mouth is, stepping up to raise funds to get these sweet trails built. This means that we get to work together as a community to create awesome places to ride. Win-win! And as each rider joins us, the financial cost is reduced when we all share it. For comparison, joining is much cheaper than buying a lift ticket or eighteen holes of golf — and it results in local assets we all enjoy for years to come.

Some of the great projects we're doing with membership dollars include new, bike-only downhill trails at Floyd Hill, Maryland Mountain and Virginia Canyon. This increase in bike-only, directional trails is a direct result of the advocacy we're able to do through your support. Thank you!
