About the event

COMBA Women's Program in partnership with Rowdy Goudy and Black Girls Do Bike Denver is hosting a hands-on mechanics class exclusive to our BIPOC community! We understand that the acronym BIPOC has limitations and doesn't always adequately represent the diversity of identities and experiences. Our use of BIPOC seeks to create a safer affinity space for those who have experienced any exclusion based on race, i.e. Black, Indigenous, Latina, Asian or other People of Color.

¡También tendremos un grupo en español si prefieres que te enseñen en español!

COMBA mechanics classes are hands-on, small group classes designed to give you the skills & knowledge to work on your bike and make basic repairs. We break into small groups of 3-5 based on your desired topic & level, so this class is for all levels. Whether you've never changed a tire or want to learn to more about your brakes, we got you! Because it's hands-on and small group, we have limited spots which fill up fast. We'll have pizza, drinks and a raffle with love from our sponsors!

Scholarships available! Please reach out to brittany.greer@comba.org.

NOTE: if you're a part of Rowdy Goudy and Black Girls Do Bike Denver's bike packing trip over Labor Day weekend, we have a group specifically for you to learn the back country basics :)

WHAT WE'LL COVER (ROAD, GRAVEL OR MOUNTAIN):

> basics - how to care for and clean your bike

> wheels - flat tires, rims, spokes, sealant, tires, tubes, plugs

> shifting adjustments - cable tension, b tension, limit screws

> brakes - rotors, pads, fluid, pistons

WHAT TO BRING:

> Something to take notes

> If you want to wrench, don't wear your nicest clothes.

> Bikes: Please feel free to bring your own bike if you want to work on it. If you don't mind that your bike is the one being demonstrated/worked on, then don't bother bringing it - we will have demo bikes to use. This class is not intended to fix your bike, but rather give you the skills and empowerment to fix it on your own, so please leave your specific parts and technical repairs at home.

A huge thanks to our sponsors: COMBA | Team Evergreen | SRAM | Yeti Cycles |  evo | Voited |  New Belgium Brewing | Bubs Naturals | Sexy Pizza | WTB | Deuter | Bivo | Atheltic Brewing

Email brittany.greer@comba.org with any questions. Looking forward to seeing!
